Golang Job: Lead Database Platform Engineer

A leading provider of investment and financial services software is seeking an experienced Lead Database Platform Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-based Database-as-a-Service solutions. Your expertise in Golang and scripting languages will be essential as you develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and SaltStack to create robust DBaaS offerings, including PostgreSQL and SQL Server. You will also manage applications using containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Helm, ensuring system health with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and InfluxDB.

Ideal candidates will have experience building scalable distributed systems with cloud technologies and a strong background in database infrastructure setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include enabling self-service database provisioning, automating database infrastructure, implementing disaster recovery and backup strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve infrastructure issues. This full-time remote position offers competitive benefits and is available to candidates in the New England area. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in computer science, or a related field.
• Over 3 years of experience in building scalable distributed systems using cloud technologies.
• Proficiency in Golang programming and deploying applications in cloud environments.
• Strong background in Infrastructure-as-Code with experience using Terraform for VM provisioning and Ansible/SaltStack or similar tools for configuration management.
• Expertise in managing PostgreSQL databases, including replication, clustering, and performance tuning.
• Strong skills in setting up, configuring, upgrading/patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting database infrastructure.
• Ability to develop automation scripts for database infrastructure.
• Proficiency in monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and related technologies.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, including expertise in database replication, high availability strategies, and disaster recovery techniques.
• Proficiency with database proxy solutions, Kubernetes operators, or tools from the Percona toolkit suite.
• Strong development skills in Golang, Bash, and/or Python, with a keen interest in automation.

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure solutions using Cloud Services.
• Facilitate self-service provisioning of PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and other databases, covering setup, configuration, upgrading/patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee the deployment of resilient database solutions in cloud environments, focusing on improving performance and scalability.
• Apply Infrastructure-as-Code principles using Terraform and SaltStack to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Deploy and manage applications using containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Helm.
• Implement and oversee monitoring and observability solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, and InfluxDB to maintain system health and performance.
